as well good question , let's talk about eating eggshells. should you ? why should you ? and how should you. Now it may never have occurred to you that you should eat eggshells but it's almost certain that our ancestors millennia go they didn't crack eggs and eat them they ate them whole. They ate the shell and the ingredients whole .They did not waste a thing and i think all of us in an attempt to honor the animals that are harvested for our diet.
we should attempt to eat as close to nose to tail as possible and including the eggshells in your diet is a way to honor the animal but also it is an excellent source of nutrition, so what's in an eggshell? you might ask. |

An excellent source of calcium: let's talk about that eggshells are an excellent source of calcium one of the best sources of calcium on the entire planet. The calcium in eggshells if prepared properly is far more absorbable and usable than any calcium supplement you'll ever buy eggshells are also a good source of magnesium phosphorus sodium and chloride and other minerals that you need as part of a proper human diet. The membrane that's inside of the eggshell that little very thin little , almost transparent membrane , don't peel that out and throw that away , eat that as well that isn't ? it containsevery building block for collagen for cartilage for tendon and for connective tissue if that is also a part of a proper human diet. you should eatthat as well. Now let's talk about how in the heck would you even go about eating an eggshell , so there are many ways you could just crunch it up that's totally fine and ancestrally appropriate , but since we are modern humans there's a little better way to do it. The way we do it is we wash the eggs very thoroughly before we crack them, we crack them and eat the insides immediately we have scrambled eggs or fried eggs or whatever and then we save the shells in a ziploc bag and keep them in the freezer so that you know there's not going to be any bacterial growth at all. When we have a one gallon ziploc bag full then take them out , put them on a cookie sheet that's what we use cookie sheets for in our house and put them on 250 degrees and , cook them in the oven for an hour. what this does is it ensures that the eggshells are completely dried out.it leaves all the membrane intact all the albumin intact from any remaining egg whites and it kills any bacteria so this is perfectly safe ,then crunch them up in a big bowl until they're partially crunched then put them in a magic bullet or a ninja food processor and put them on pulverize and let this run as long as it needs to ,when it's done you will have very fine eggshell powder that you can then sprinkle on any dish that you make. No one can tell it's in there, it's essentially tasteless one half teaspoon of this powder a day gives you 90 of the rda for calcium , And remember as i said earlier this form of calcium is very absorbable and usable by your body .your body is going to know what to do with this calcium and it's never going to put it inappropriate places like the lining of your arteries. we also sprinkle some of this eggshell powder on our dog's food once it's prepared and on our cat's food because they need excellent sources of calcium and other minerals as well and this way no part of the gift that was given to us by our hens goes to waste.
